Savannah, Georgia Travel Guide
Savannah is a beautiful city with tons of history and ghosts (if you believe in that kind of thing). The town squares, cute shops, Spanish moss, make this city stand out compared to other Southern cities. It’s quickly becoming a popular bachelor/bachelorette party destination and I can see why with all the fun activities to do, and the open container policy on the streets helps!
Where to Stay
Stay in Downtown Savannah. Savannah is an extremely walkable city and if you’re in the heart of downtown you will save a lot of money on Ubers. It might be cheaper to stay in one of the surrounding cities, but learn from my mistake (stayed in Wilmington Island), being in downtown will allow you to explore everything Savannah has to offer and you’ll end up spending just as much money Ubering everywhere if you don’t stay in the downtown area.
Getting around Savannah
Unless you’re exploring Tybee Island or Hilton Head, a car is not necessary here. It’s about a 20 minute drive from the airport, so Ubers will save you a lot of money from renting a car. If you do Uber to Tybee Island, be aware that getting Ubers that far away can sometimes take a long time. We went in February so it wasn’t tourist season at all and probably has more options when it’s busier. I would look into renting a car off Turo for a day if you decide to daytrip to Tybee Island or Hilton Head.
Must See Locations in savannah
Things to Do in Savannah
#1 -Bull Street
Walk along Bull Street to see lots of cute shops and town squares. There’s tons of boutique, antique, and souvenir shops to check out. House of Strut was a favorite!
#2 – Town Squares
Visit all the Town Squares. There’s tons of history in Savannah, so if you’re up for it, do a walking tour of all the Town Squares and read up about the history.
#3 – Ghost Tours
Go on a Ghost Tour: We did a walking ghost tour at night. We went through this company. As someone who is not into scary/creepy things, I didn’t find it that scary. And I would only recommend this if you are into those kinds of things and have a good attention span. The stories are long so it’s a lot of standing around in a town square or in front of a building listening to the guide. I’m happy we did it because Savannah is known to be one of the most haunted cities but it’s something I would skip if you don’t have a ton of time in Savannah. There are also “Hearse Ghost Tours” where you ride in an open hearse and that seemed like a fun way to do it as well. Find more about that here.
#4 – Pedal Pub
Pedal Pub through Downtown: This would require a larger group of people but a fun activity for a bachelorette party. This is the company we went through and had a fabulous time!
#5 – Shop in Tybee oaks
The Shops at Tybee Oaks: If you choose to visit Tybee Beach, swing by The Shops at Tybee Oaks on your way there or back! We went to a coffee shop called Tybean and then ended up doing a little shopping at these cute shops after!
#6 – tybee Beach
Visit Tybee Beach: A cute little coastal city with some souvenir shops, restaurants, a pier you can rent fishing gear from if you’d like. The beach is large and a good spot to relax for the day, just pay attention to the time of year you are going because it is NOT warm year-round. On the way out to Tybee Beach, stop at Tybee Oaks where you can find Tybean, a fun coffee shop, shops that give off a beach town vibe, and a restaurant.

Restaurants recommendations
Poe’s Tavern
American food. Good lunch spot and then after you can hop over to the river walk and explore
Churchill’s
American food. Brunch, lunch or dinner spot. Would NOT recommend getting the Shrimp and Grits but also tried the Shrimp Scampi and Lobster Bisque and that was all 10/10.
Mint to Be Mojito
Empanadas and Mojitos. Perfect pit stop if you need a quick mid-day pick-me-up. There’s a speakeasy attached to it, La Aparicion, that’s fun, but it’s only open Thurs – Sunday and doesn’t open until 5:30pm or 6:30pm depending on the day you go.
Leopold’s Ice Cream
THE ice cream shop to stop at in Savannah.
More Restaurant Recommendations
Bars / cocktail Lounges
Peacock Lounge
Tons of comfy couches/chairs or a bar you can sit at with vibrant art/neon signs
Alley Cat
Good drinks and if you go when it’s not busy, snagging one of the half circular booths is clutch!
Chive Sea Bar & Lounge
Good drinks, especially their espresso martini, but if you don’t like the smell of seafood, you might want to avoid this one. As soon as we walked in it smelled like fish.
Electric Moon
Fun club/bar that has a slide inside. Goes from chiller bar to popping club around 9:30/10pm. Once it starts getting busy they charge a cover but we were there by 9pm and didn’t have to pay at that point.
P.S. Tavern
Great/cheap pickle shots and a Green Bay Packer bar if you happen to be a fan!
The Escape Company
Dingy downstairs college looking bar but has $1 jello shots. Also has side escape/gaming rooms!
Coffee shops
The Coffee Fox
Vibrant coffee shop in the heart of downtown. Highly recommend the Mexican Mocha
Tybean
This is in Tybee Island and is mostly an outdoor coffee shop. Coffee was great and the little shops around it were an added bonus!
